WHY: The icebreaker tournament is a FUN, SHORT AND SIMPLE three-round tournament opportunity to break the ice and show off the skills you’ve learned so far this season! When we say, “Break the ice,” we want to help you shed any fear or hesitation that you may have in playing a competitive game of chess with other local kids around your age and skillset. And most of all we want you to have fun doing it!  

WHEN: Saturday, December 10th @ 10am

WHERE: Kingsley Junior High School

SECTIONS:
* Lower Primary, LP (K-1)
* Upper Primary, UP (2-3)
* Elementary (4-5)
* Junior High (6-8)

TIME LIMITS: LP & UP, 3 rounds, G/30; Elementary, 3 rounds, G/45; Jr High, 3 rounds G/45;

ENTRY FEE: $18 payable to the Northpoint Elementary Chess Club
(USCF membership is required, JTP acceptable for K-3 advanced online registration preferred)

ENTRY DEADLINE: 6pm, Thursday, December 8th or 300 participants, whichever is first

STARTING TIME: Check in with our team by 9:15am. First round will begin at 10am with subsequent rounds to follow as soon as possible. Trophies for all who play the three rounds will be presented ASAP.

TROPHIES/PRIZES: Unique to the icebreaker, awards will be presented to all participants.

FOOD SERVICE: Pizza, sandwiches, snacks and beverages will be available for purchase.
